Orthopedics & Sports Medicine FAQs and Resources

Athletic Training

Certified athletic trainers are one of the first health care providers on the scene when injuries occur. Working under the direction of a fellowship-trained orthopedic specialist they work with local high schools and colleges to help with both injury prevention and on-the-spot attention when something occurs on the field. As orthopedic sports medicine allied health professionals, our certified athletic trainers specialize in the prevention, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of muscle and bone injuries and illnesses. For more information, visit the Athletic Training page.

Foot & Ankle Care

The average person takes approximately 10,000 steps per day, which can add up to more than 3 million steps per year. Each step can place 2-3 times the force of your body weight on your feet. You rely on your feet and ankles, so it's important to keep them healthy and pain-free. If you have a foot or ankle problem, make an appointment with a foot and ankle orthopedic specialist at Independence Health System Orthopedics and Sports Medicine.
