Independence Health System Clarion Hospital Is Now Offering State-of-the-Art Minimally Invasive Treatments for Skin Cancer

Clarion, PA, Aug. 14, 2024 … Independence Health System now offers Mohs micrographic surgery at Clarion Hospital. Mohs surgery is a highly effective and minimally invasive treatment for skin cancer. The innovative procedure is performed by Chad Hendrickson, MD, FAAD, a board-certified dermatologist with specialized training in Mohs surgery and pathology. Dr. Hendrickson joined the System in 2013, offering general dermatology services.

Clarion DermatologyMohs micrographic surgery differs from other skin cancer treatments by integrating the surgical removal of cancerous skin with same-day microscopic analysis to closely look for signs of cancer. The doctor begins by removing a thin layer of skin for analysis and continues the process until there are no apparent signs of cancer. Mohs has proven to be very successful in treating skin cancer and leaves minimal scarring while preserving the surrounding healthy skin.

Dr. Hendrickson completed his undergraduate studies at Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania, and received his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University, Bethesda, Maryland. He then completed a transitional internship and dermatology residency at the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium.

During his 11 years as a U.S. Army physician, Dr. Hendrickson served as the chief of dermatology at McDonald Army Health Center, Fort Eustis, Virginia, and chief of dermatology at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany. In 2002, he received the AMSUS award for military medical excellence.

Dr. Hendrickson has offices in Clarion, Seneca and New Castle. He is supported by a team of highly skilled healthcare professionals, treating patients for a wide array of skin conditions. To make an appointment with Dr. Hendrickson or a member of his team, call 833-604-7212.
