There are many ways that you can help improve health and well-being, right here in our community. Gifts may be made in memory of or in honor of a person, family, group, or an organization important to you. Perhaps you’d like to support a particular project or a specific health care program. Unrestricted gifts are applied to the most urgent or currents needs at Independence Health System.
All charitable donors receive a thank you letter for their generosity, which also serves as a tax-deductible receipt.
Donations in the form of checks or cash may be made at any time. Cash donations may be applied to specific needs or may be made as unrestricted gifts. Online donations using a credit card may be made by clicking here.
Many employers will match donations to the Foundation, which increases your donation to us. You can contact the Human Resources department at your workplace to learn more about any options they offer. While companies have their own processes, it is not unusual that the process begins with a donor requesting a Matching Gift Form from the company. This completed form is sent to us where the donation is verified and returned to the employer so they can issue the matching donation.
In addition to financial support, donations in the form of much needed supplies, food, and special event auction items are a wonderful example of donors providing specific essential goods instead of cash. Please contact the Foundation Office at 724-832-4140 if you have helpful gifts in-kind, which you would like to donate.
We are always grateful when our employees choose to support the Foundation! Employees who want to support the efforts of the Foundation may conveniently do so through payroll deduction. Please call the Foundation office at 724-832-4140 to obtain a form to support the hospital through payroll deduction.
A Planned Gift is a personal and meaningful contribution that affords you the opportunity to give in a way that will leave a lasting legacy for you and your family, as well as the thousands of patients and community members that will be influenced by your generosity.
Consider donating appreciated stock, mutual funds, bonds or other securities. Your tax preparer or attorney can review the substantial tax benefits to you by gifting securities to the Foundation.
Designate a gift in the amount of your choice in your will or living trust. After the donor of the future bequest signs a “Letter of Intent” the Foundation immediately recognizes the donor so that they may be properly thanked in their lifetime.
You may find that as time passes, the need for the security that life insurance provides lessens. Donors who make a gift of a paid-up policy receive an immediate tax deduction. If premiums are still due on a policy, the donation and tax deduction then equals the cash-surrender value. The Foundation may also be listed as a beneficiary on a life insurance policy.
The Foundation can help you create a Charitable Trust that pays fixed or variable income to the Foundation for a set numbers of years, with the principle retained for your heirs. Both trust options—The Charitable Lead Annuity Trust or the Charitable Lead Unitrust help reduce gift and estate taxes on your assets.
The Foundation gratefully accepts gifts of property. If you’d like to donate property, the Foundation will first provide you with a complete list of restrictions associated with this type of philanthropy.
Please consider sharing your time as well as your treasure with the Foundation. The Foundation appreciates help with special events and office assistance. Call us at 724-832-4140 to learn more.
We are always happy to answer any questions you may have regarding the Foundation Office and the support that we provide Independence Health System! Call us anytime at 724-832-4140.
