During my audition rotation at Latrobe Hospital, I knew I couldn’t see myself anywhere else! The attendings and residents made me feel so welcome, while encouraging me to ask questions and learn as much as possible. The culture is so supportive, and I felt like a member of the team even as an auditioning medical student. This program makes great physicians, but even more importantly – it attracts kind souls who are dedicated to their patients.

From the first moment I arrived in Latrobe and interviewed the Latrobe Hospital I knew I wanted it as my future home. The people from the Family Medicine Residency program were so welcoming and dedicated. I immediately felt their commitment to excellence and my growth not only as a physician but as a person as well. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to continue my training with this exceptional program.

During my clinical years of medical school, I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to spend several months rotating through and learning at Latrobe Hospital. On my first day, I immediately knew this was the team I had to become a part of to complete my residency in Family Medicine. Faculty and residents were immensely welcoming and promoted true camaraderie with genuine care of the well-being of one another that was absolutely contagious. In addition to my education, this was one of the most important factors to me when considering a program, and there was no doubt that Latrobe Hospital was the place for me. Being an unopposed program in rural Pennsylvania, I know I will receive an outstanding education with a great focus on patient care that will allow me to be the best physician I can for my patients in the future.

Growing up local to Western Pennsylvania, I am so thankful to remain close to my family who have been my biggest support in my career thus far. What I enjoy the most is, this program makes me feel like I am a part of an even larger family, and for that I am blessed. I am looking forward to continuing to grow in this rural community that has shaped me into the person I am today and to keep giving back throughout my residency and after.

My top priorities when choosing a residency program were location, learning environment, and the character of people in the program, each of which this residency excels in. I am a southwestern Pennsylvania local and am happy to remain close to home within a community I have been a part of for many years.

The hospital is in the beautiful city of Latrobe, a town I have had the privilege of visiting many times while in school in neighboring Greensburg.

I was also able to spend time as a medical student within the Independence Health System and had a great experience with everyone I worked with, which drew me to this program specifically. Not only are the family medicine residents and attending physicians great to work with, but the staff all works well as part of an inter-professional team. Everyone I met was so friendly and welcoming, and I enjoyed working with them so much that I decided this was the place for me! The people truly do make the program here, and I am grateful to be joining it!

I was fortunate enough to spend my entire third year of medical school rotating with Independence Health System. Because of this, I was able to see first hand how the program prepares its residents to be the best physicians possible. The residents and faculty truly get along like a family, and each of the residents or physicians I met as a student wanted me to succeed. Other perks of the program that stood out to me were the daily didactics, resident housing close to the hospital, and the opportunity to train at an unopposed program. In addition to the program, the location is great. While in the area for medical school, my husband and I loved that we were able to ski at Seven Springs during the winter, drive into Pittsburgh to spend the day on the weekends, and walk our dog at one of the many parks in the evenings. The Latrobe area felt like home and I'm excited to be back in the area for another 3 years.

When I was searching for a residency program, I was looking for a program that was close to my hometown and family, had a positive learning environment, and had many learning opportunities that would prepare me to be a well rounded physician for my future patients. Independence Health System checked all the boxes for me and I am very thankful to complete my residency training here!

When choosing a Family Medicine Residency, I was looking for a program that not only challenged me to grow and excel as a physician but also as a person outside of medicine. I was looking for a supportive program that felt like a strong community and family, and I had found that at Latrobe Family Medicine Residency.

As a Pennsylvania native, I knew that I wanted to return and practice rural medicine in my home state. Everyone that I had worked with during my rotations as a medical student was very genuine, helpful and passionate, which made for an amazing experience. It's very evident that they truly are for the well-being of their residents and put the residents' best interest first. I feel blessed to be a part of such an incredible program that I know will foster me into an impeccable Family Medicine Physician.

I chose Latrobe Family Medicine Residency for several reasons. Foremost, I am a nature enthusiast and loved the scenic drives all across Pennsylvania. In Latrobe and the surrounding areas there are many opportunities for outdoor activities such as hiking and exploring local parks. The nearby Laurel Highlands region provides beautiful landscapes and outdoor family adventure.

I loved the feel of close-knit community in the residency program where all residents, Attendings, and other faculty knew each other very well and the program invests time to actually know every applicant. I felt "highly welcomed" by the residents during my interaction which made this program as my top choice.

Program leadership also provided a very detailed overview of the Latrobe family medicine residency with a strong emphasis on comprehensive training, being an unopposed family medicine residency program all residents will be gain robust experience in various settings. All these core values mirror my goals of residency training to be a well rounded family physician.

I chose Latrobe Hospital for my residency because it offered me both professional and personal fulfillment. I grew up locally, and being so close to home was a significant factor, as I wanted to remain close to family and friends. Additionally, because I completed most of my rotations at Independence Health System, I had the opportunity to work closely with the residents and faculty, which highlighted the friendly environment focused on teaching - with excellent camaraderie. Ultimately, I felt that Latrobe Hospital was a place where I could thrive and have a sense of belonging that I would have difficulty finding elsewhere.

I chose Latrobe Family Medicine Residency because it is an unopposed program, providing broader and more extensive training. The program serves a large geographic area with a wide variety of patients and conditions while fostering a strong sense of community and teamwork, making it an ideal place to train and grow professionally.
