Tom Albanesi brings more than 40 years of financial management experience to his role as Chief Financial Officer, serving as the CFO of Independence Health System (formerly Excela Health) since 2016. In this role, Albanesi is responsible for all finance functions of the System, including accounting, budgeting, investments, debt compliance, revenue cycle, and managed care contracting.
Albanesi began his career by spending 12 years with EY, focused primarily on healthcare clients. His experience also includes serving as Treasurer of West Penn Allegheny Health System, Chief Financial Officer at Fox Chase Cancer Center and Principal of Sullivan, Cotter and Associates, Inc.
A native of western PA, Albanesi received his Bachelor’s degree in accounting from Duquesne University and became a Certified Public Accountant in 1984. He is a Fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and a member of the American and Pennsylvania Institutes of Certified Public Accountants. Albanesi serves as board president of MedCare Equipment Co., LLC, whose member owners include Independence Health System, and is a member of the boards of Mountain View Cancer Associates, Bridges Health Partners and Excela RRG.
Albanesi volunteers as a board member of Squirrel Hill Health Center and just stepped down after five years as board President of Travelers Aid of Pittsburgh. He and his wife, Ann, live in Unity Township and are the parents of four adult children.
