
Mindy Dunkerley, MBA, BSN, RN, joined Independence Health System (formerly Butler Health System) in 1997 with a background in human resources. With nearly 30 years of healthcare leadership experience, she has played a key role in overseeing and enhancing quality and safety measures within the hospital setting. Her expertise includes quality assurance, patient safety, regulatory compliance, risk management, data analysis, and the development and successful implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
Dunkerley holds a Bachelor of Science in Business and Master of Business Administration from Point Park University, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Duquesne University. She attended the University of Michigan’s Lean Healthcare Certification program.
Throughout her career, she has held several leadership roles, including executive director of quality and performance and chief nursing officer. She currently serves as the system’s chief quality officer. In this role, she collaborates with healthcare professionals across the system to identify quality improvement initiatives based upon data, incident analysis, potential safety issues, while promoting a culture of safety with the organization.
A 2006 graduate of the Chamber of Commerce Leadership Butler County Program, Dunkerley served on its Leadership Board for several
years. She currently serves on the MedCare Board and was recognized as Butler County Employee of the Year in 2019.
